It wasn’t her first time riding on Ghani, but nevertheless her legs trembled as they dangled along side either of the horse’s flanks. Iffadew’s face held a neutral expression, but her fingering of the reins gave her away. Travelling may have been a dream-come-true for the adventurous girl who felt trapped by the expectation of her being a seamstress, but her apprehension for what lay ahead was undeniable. Unable to help herself, she whirled her head back to glance at the city gates, as if she could see her mother and her family through the thick walls. Not giving herself a moment longer, she turned back and gripped the reins hard. Giving them a flick, she bade the brown horse to go slightly faster.
The area was not unfamiliar, for her mentor had led her out here before, but anywhere near the mountains would require a map and perhaps some guidance. Keeping her mind alert and her gaze watchful, she made sure to scan her surroundings before venturing along the path towards the Linian Mountains. The gaze of the city guards were of no matter to her, for she had already equipped herself and her mother with her reason for ‘leaving’, but she hoped that no one would recognize her this far out. The mountains would be enough cover for her from anyone who somehow wanted an adventure along the foot of those hills, and probably safe enough too.
