The wall surrounding the city goes past The Edge. A street runs at the base of the wall lined by houses.

Mikail ran through the street, looking behind it at his friend more often than he was looking ahead. He narrowly avoided running headlong into a cart coming the opposite direction without noticing.

Ravian was keeping a good pace after him, then let out a slight squeak as he bolted forward and grabbed Mikail by his collar, pulling him out of the cart's way. He tripped and fell on the ground, thankfully on some soft grass rather than the hard packed, earthen road. He did, however, manage to pull down his friend with him. Rubbing his now sore backside, he sat up, and he pushed Mikail off too. "Oof, you need to watch it, Mikail," he muttered.

Mikail frowned. "Why did you pull me down?" he asked, his face screwing up. "I hurt my elbow!" he held out his arm to show Ravian where he had bumped his elbow against the ground. It was slightly green from a grass stain.

"That cart could have run you over," he said, taking Mikail's arm as nicely as he could. He tugged the sleeve back and looked. "It's just red," he said, pulling the sleeve back. "You're just fine." He patted Mikail on his head, then stood to his feet. "Now come on, let's go."

Mikail tucked his arm against his body. He thought Ravain was over-reacting. The cart would not have run him over. He got to his feet, still feeling a bit grouchy about the incident. "I'm coming," he said, more glumly that was really necessary.

Ravian looked back the wall, hearing soldiers talking as they patrolled the top. His face lit up, and he looked back at Mikail. "Mikail, we should go watch the soldiers," he said, completely forgetting whatever it was they had been about to do. "I'll bet they're all outside at sword practice too, cause it's a sunny day out today."

Mikail looked up at the wall and then at the sky to verify that, yes, it was indeed sunny. "You think so? Maybe they'll teach us how to use swords! We can go watch them at the palace!" he pointed the way, forgetting that his arm was supposed to be hurt.

Ravian followed Mikail's point, then looked back and forth down the street. "No, I think it's that way," Ravian said, pointing in a different direction, then he put his finger to his chin, unsure. "We'll go your way first," he said finally.

Mikail grinned and began skipping in the direction he had pointed it. "We'll find it eventually!" He told his friend. Time was no obstacle to him, he could take all day to find the palace if he wanted. He had nowhere else to be.

Ravian followed behind him, taking in the sights and sounds of the city from where they were. It would be much louder if they went by the market. Here at least he could hear birds singing. A couple kids their age ran by playing with some sticks. Ravian just hoped they would get to use real swords. That would be so cool. Or even daggers. He heard that swords were really, really heavy, but daggers were small, so maybe he could hold a dagger, just for a minute. He continued to follow Mikail down the street.

Mikail paused occasionally to look back and make sure his friend was keeping up. He didn't want to get knocked to the ground again, so he made sure to look ahead as well. He spotted a short stick on the ground and snatched it up. He spun around, pointing it at Ravian. "Ha! Evil dragon, I will defeat you!"

Ravian skidded to a halt, staring at the stick. Then he grinned really big. "Ahh! No! I will burn you, crunchety-crunchety human!" He held his hands above his head, making "claws" with his fingers. "Your puny sword is useless to dragons!"

Mikail glanced at his stick, at Ravian, back at his stick, and then shrugged and threw his stick back on the ground. "Then I'll defeat you with my own two hand!" He yelled and launched himself at his friend.

Ravian shrieked as he was knocked to the ground, then burst into laughter as he grabbed his friend and rolled them both over in the dirt. "Not if I get you first!" he said, trying to trap the smaller boy in a bear hug.
