The castle wall is wide enough for two men to walk easily side-by-side. It surrounds the entire castle and is punctuated by four guard towers.

Stabat Mater opened the gatehouse door and stepped out into the pitch darkness of the 'walls'. To him it was a massive maze of platforms lit by glowing lights that ran down the length of the floor. Beyond the maze was pitch black, though every now and then, visible soundwaves echoed out, fizzling across the horizon with every breath and word uttered. Even the wind provided a steady stream of waves that faded to nearly nothing after some time before returning as the wind picked up again. He saw nothing out of the ordinary, and leaned back against the parapet, gazing out at the darkness. "Seems to be the same old, same old out here," he said with a sigh, looking back at Lia.

Lia nodded in reply as she walked over to the side of the wall and leaned over. Nothing out of the ordinary was happened; at least not at the moment. "There doesn't seem to be anything noticeable to me, at least." she said out loud, even though it wasn't meant for Stabat. "We still mustn't let our guards down, though."

"Hmm, don't have to tell me," he replied, watching the formless white speaking to him. He saw the sound waves but still heard the voice in his mind as well. He turned back to look out over the black. It was so depthless, even still he wasn't used to it. Something purple flickered in the distance though, and he squinted t it, curiously. "There's always something wrong lurking on the horizon."

“Something wrong?" Lia tiled her head in confusion. She looked in the direction that Stabat was staring at, but didn't seem to make out anything suspicious. "What do you see over there?" she asked as she walked closer, trying to see if she had missed something that he had caught.

Stabat continued to watch the horizon, feeling the wind in his hair from how high up they were, it was a rather strong one. "Not sure... yet," he replied finally, turning to lean his back against the parapet. "But it is always something, isn't it? We've had peace for a time, and that makes us all complacent. And just as we begin to settle, an inky darkness stirs in the tides." Still, he was feeling restless as ever. That horizon disturbed him, almost as much as the darkness still did. he had been terrified of being out in it ever since he was younger, though he had long since learned to control such a fear. It had yet to actually harm him or anyone around him. Same as the tunnel of flesh and the screaming walls. Or maybe the screaming had made him go mad, and he was just stupidly ignoring the darkness. He hardly knew. No one seemed to help anyway.

"True. Who know what new grievances the meeting may potentially bring for us." Lia nodded in agreement as her thoughts started to drift away. Perhaps she was starting to relax and lose her guard. Pain...all told her that physical pain was unbearable, while none told her that pain from the heart was something that she couldn't nullify. She had done the right thing, but why did it pain her, even know? "It wasn't my fault..." she murmured as her gaze became distant, her mind concentrated on a place somewhere else in time.

Stabat raised one eyebrow curiously, the white form slowly turning black and purple, small things with wings tearing away from her form to fly away into the darkness. She always did that when she was thinking hard about something, but the fluttering things seemed very lethargic. A few of them began to melt in mid-flight. He brushed one away when it got near his face. "Something troubles you?" he queried, not meaning to pry, but the fluttering-things bothered him deeply, so she must be bothered too.

Stabat's question snapped Lia out of her thoughts immediately. She shook her head in denial. "Nothing of importance." she replied, as if it were to explain everything to him. "What did you see earlier, again?" she asked as her face returned to its emotionless state, her gaze directed at the horizon as if nothing abnormal had ran through her mind earlier.

The butterflies vanished in a blink, and she was her usual, white self again. Furrowing his brow in obvious concern, not so easily to be brushed aside like that, he looked back at the horizon, contemplating it. "Something foul," he said lowly. "I can't quite describe it. Heavy and dark. But I don't think it was so much an object as it was a cloud. But perhaps I'm speaking too metaphorically." He shook his head. "It's still kind of lurking there, an omen of what's to come? That's my guess anyway."

"An omen?" Lia murmured as she frowned, still facing the horizon. "Perhaps we should alert the other castle guards as well, then, and add extra security for the meeting to come." she suggested, even though she had a feeling that any resistance would be futile. "Whatever it may be, as long as we are careful, perhaps it can be adverted." she said, as if to assure herself.
